For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. Romans 3:23-24 NLT
We have all sinned and deserve death. When we come face to face with God’s holiness, we can only acknowledge that we are sinners. Yet Jesus bore our sentence upon himself when he died on the cross. The spirit of the law that was judging us was nailed to the cross with him. By faith and the work of the cross removing from our flesh that same spirit of the law this becomes reality for us. Only by believing that Jesus died for me and by turning away from my sin, he opens the door of righteousness for me. From that very day I become the righteousness of God. The enemy can’t accuse or condemn me anymore. What Jesus did on the cross he did once and for all.
But that doesn’t mean I’m perfect now. I still have weaknesses and problems. However, even if I fall God doesn’t condemn me. His grace surrounds me all time and even in my defeat he is still next to me. It’s hard to see him in these times because our faults blind us. But as we cry to him he opens our eyes to see that he was there all the time. God always forgives me even before I repent. But for me to accept his love and forgiveness I need to repent. God’s grace has no limit and is beyond what any man can give.
