When you sit down to listen to someone preaching, do you ever think that it is actually the Lord speaking to you?? Proverbs 4 vs 5 says “Get wisdom, get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth”. When we realise that what we are hearing is the very heart of God for us we are not quick to forget, but we are eager to live the very word we are hearing. It is not man who has saved us, but it is God himself, so there needs to be a reverence in our hearts as we hear His word. Otherwise we are just going to treat lightly His word and our lives will never be transformed into His image.
