I think, a fraction of determining the Law in us is when we cannot go beyond the rules. For example if we cannot go beyond the duty roaster at home, when we say “I’m meant to do this and thats all I’m going to do”, or when you at work and you don’t do things beyond your job description. i’m not saying following the roaster or doing your job is bad but i think its Law when going beyond the roaster is taboo. We need to check our hearts!!
Jesus says in Matthew 5 v 41 ” whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.” In Rome it was law to carry the soldier bags for one mile when asked to but Jesus says go two miles. Why? I think coz the first mile is law but the second mile is freedom, free from law. this is freedom that can only come from the work of the cross in our lives, when we die to ourself we do not need to be controlled by a piece of paper (duty roaster, job description) we do not need a tablet of stone coz the spirit of God is in our hearts and therefore my eyes are open to see beyond the duty roaster.
