I got off the plane, the place was hot, humid, dirty and deserted. It was great to finally see some familiar faces, in the persons of Clarence and Joseph (the elders from my church which I had come to join). I met some of the local pastors who very kindly assisted me with my visa. Bad news was my suitcase wasn’t on the plane! However, for some reason or another I didn’t! They said I could come back the following day to collect it. The journey “home” was interesting. No road signs, scarcely any lines on the road and, yes of course, huge craters along the road (potholes)! My first meal consisted of fish boiled in a tomato sauce, round potato chips and ‘plantaine’ (local banana species which is large and not sweet, so the use it in their cooked meals). I was at pastor Fandji’s home, and I went to sleep that night in the close I had traveled in, and shared a matress with the pastor’s 2 sons…
