Decoration miracle

With all that was happening in the youth with preparation for the annual conference in Mauritius, I wanted to get involved in something to be a part of what was going on. As the Lord had shown me that not taking any responsibility for fear of failure was depriving myself of spiritual growth as well as being a support and taking my place in the church, I offered my services!

Well I got thrown in the deep end. I was put in charge of decorating the hall. After several brainstorming sessions, an image of what we were looking for emerged. I was very happy. Little did I know this would change several times before the final day. Even in the final minutes while things were going up, changes were being made. This stressed me out to no end as I like things in order and well planned. When working in a team there is bound to be clashes and contradicting opinions in things being delegated and getting done. So I took it on myself to do it myself. It did not work and I saw the importance of team and how each one has his place. The slow diligent worker may not get it done now but is there to the end and is patient, while the energized gets it done quickly but not as you may have wanted. All this was a work. A week before the conference, when since nothing had been done I wanted to call the whole thing off and give up, but I realized that would be the easy way out and how I need to be diligent to the end. I asked the Lord for help and in the last days the team came together with no or very few attitudes – and got it done. It was really wonderful to see guys from different countries, nationalities and cultures coming together and working hard with a lot of laughter and humor.

We have been complemented on the hall as it is different to what it has been before and is a big hit. But the glory must go to God who gave us he strength and his grace to do it.
